Key Points

Show kitting up in confined boat, ensure air is on prior to wearing cylinder, explain shot line, face to face descent, faster descent - watch ears and buoyancy, stay close, avoid propeller.

Introduction

Brief (SEEDS)

E - Explain what, why, how long, where.

E - Full kit, distance line, slate, knife or net cutter, SMB or DSMB.

S - Be aware of shot line, avoid propeller.

D - Keep close, pay attention, look carefully and repeat when prompted.

S - 'Up', 'down', 'you watch me', 'you repeat’,

On Boat

  1. Demonstrate putting on weight belt (lay on inflatable tubes) - Students repeat.
  2. Demonstrate switching on air - Students repeat
  3. Demonstrate placing of cylinder and getting jacket on - Students repeat.
  4. Demonstrate putting on fins, mask and other equipment - Students repeat.
  5. {Buddy Check} Plenty of air in jacket.
  6. Demonstrate entry holding mask and kit, swim to students side - Students repeat entry.

On Surface

  1. Both swim for shot line, signal and descend slowly.

On Shot line

  1. Do bubble and computer check. Test buoyancy - Students repeat.

Deep

  1. Check shot line secure.
  2. Demonstrate reel and clip functions - Students repeat.
  3. Demonstrate unreeling line - avoid entanglement - Students repeat.
  4. Demonstrate holding onto line - Students repeat.
  5. Demonstrate reeling in - Students repeat.
  6. Check air contents, Ascent slowly.

Surface

  1. Assist with boat Exit.
