27. AV and Towing

 

Key Points

AV - Don’t breath into casualties lungs, grip, roll casualty, head back, seal mouth and nose, tow - grip, fin position, looking where you are going, signalling.

Introduction

Brief (SEEDS)

E - Explain what, why, how long, where.

E - Dry suit, jacket, fins, mask, snorkel, no weight belt, tank or regulators.

S - Inflate jackets if required, DO not breathe into casualty, do not loose kit.

D - Keep close, pay attention, look carefully and repeat when prompted.

Waist Deep

 

  1. Quick revision of AV - head back, tuck elbow in, pistol grips, hold casualties tank/kit
  2. Demonstrate with another Student
  3. Students repeat in rotation
  4. Revision of roll and mouth seal - 1 breath every 6 secs
  5. Demonstrate with another Student
  6. Students repeat rotation
  7. Demonstration of towing holds (chin, tank or kit)
  8. Demonstrate with another Student
  9. Students repeat in rotation
  10. Demonstration of towing leg positions
  11. Demonstrate with another Student
  12. Students repeat in rotation
  13. Demonstration of towing and AV together
  14. Demonstrate with another Student
  15. Demonstrate switching from 2 breaths every 15 secs to 1 every 6 secs
