Key Points

Check airway, ensure casualty is buoyant, head back, keep airway clear. AV may be required at 15-2, signal, look in direction of tow, attract attention.

Waist Deep

  1. Demonstrate grip and head back position (pistol grip) to ensure clear airway.
  2. Repeat with another Student.
  3. Students repeat.

Deep

  1. Demonstrate towing with legs on either side of casualty, ensuring good grip on casualty
  2. Repeat with another student.
  3. Students repeat.
  4. Demonstrate (x 2) tow, maintain clear airway and include occasional orientation checking and signalling/shouting for assistance.
  5. Students repeat.
  6. Demonstrate (x 2) towing with legs on one side of casualty.
  7. Students repeat.
