Key Points

Always breath out slowly, good grip on shared regulator, speed of response, hold regulator properly, good grip on buddy, fit and purge regulator, work in buddy pairs. Don’t take long taking breaths. Make frequent reassuring eye contact.

Surface

  1. Demonstrate donating process - Take breath, position (side on), hold recipients tank and offer regulator (purge button free), reassuring eye contact - Repeat with another student.
  2. Students repeat donating air to instructor.
  3. Demonstrate receiving air - (Student to donate air), hold wrist and take two breaths, good grip on donor, breath out slowly - repeat with another student.
  4. Students repeat.

Shallow

  1. Repeat 1 and 2 - Get good rhythm, Students hold own regulator initially.
  2. Repeat 3 and 4.

Deep

  1. Repeat steps 5-6.
  2. Demonstrate ascent with air sharing - Students repeat.
  3. Demonstrate swimming (ensure neutral buoyancy) - Students repeat.
