River Lune

Interesting River Dive.

Access to the water is easy enough.

Introduction

This is best dived from "Devils Bridge" on the A65 at Kirby Lonsdale. It is open to divers on Sundays during November, December and January.

You do need to get permission from the tourist office 0542 71632 or 71437. This is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoons.

The current can be quite strong and the vis is variable. The club has had some great dives here.

The bridge is a traditional meeting place for bikers and it is close enough to Capernwray for the second dive.

Devils Bridge

Services

Ample parking. There are good toilets and a mobile snack bar on the bridge.

General Comments

The club did this dive on the 7th December. It was pretty cold (7C) and the water was reddish brown, Visibility was poor i.e., 0.5 to 1m and the current was damn fast. Max depth we got was about 5.3m. We spent a good hour in there though.
